About Ray Rogers
Ray Rogers, a lifelong gardener, began his career in public horticulture. He worked at the Morris Arboretum in Philadelphia and at the American Horticultural Society’s headquarters at River Farm in Alexandria, Virginia.
Those positions furthered his interest in the horticultural press and led to his position of Senior Editor at Dorling Kindersley Publishing (where Ray served as American Editor for the American Horticultural Society A to Z Encyclopedia of Garden Plants, among many other titles).
Currently a freelance author and public speaker, Ray continues to pursue his horticultural interests as a home gardener and as an amateur hybridizer of Hippeastrum (amaryllis), Sinningia (African violet relatives), and Gasteria (a succulent genus).
He is a major horticultural exhibitor at the Philadelphia International Flower Show.
Ray Rogers is coauthor of The Philadelphia Flower Show: Celebrating 175 Years and author of Pots in the Garden: Expert Design and Planting Techniques and of Coleus: Rainbow Foliage for Containers and Gardens. His most recent book, The Encyclopedia of Container Plants: More than 500 Outstanding Choices for Gardeners, published in September 2010.
