U.S. National Arboretum’s National Boxwood Collection
Lynn R. Batdorf received his BS in Horticulture from the University of Maryland. He has served as the curator of the National Boxwood Collection at the
U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, D.C., for nearly 35 years and as the International Registration Authority for boxwood for 25 years. He holds honorary life membership in both the American Boxwood Society and the European Boxwood and Topiary Society. In 2002, Mr. Batdorf participated in an expedition to Azerbaijan and the republic of Georgia to document and preserve boxwood in the Caucasus.
Author of three books – Boxwood, An Illustrated Encyclopedia; Boxwood Handbook; and Caring for Box – and more than 50 articles on the subject of boxwood, Mr. Batdorf lectures nationally and internationally to professional audiences on a variety of boxwood topics.
