A String Youth Orchestra for Elementary and Middle School Students

The Short Pump Symphonette is a string youth orchestra currently comprising about 18 players, which rehearses on a weekly basis and performs public concerts throughout the year. The orchestra was founded by Chris Novelli and William Raposo in 2004 to provide an opportunity for string students (especially elementary-school students) who are currently taking private lessons to play in an orchestra. Players range in age from elementary-school to middle-school. Students interested in joining need to have about two years of experience playing and reading music. The level of difficulty ranges from second-year middle-school orchestra level to high-school level.
