Mark Viette

Mark Viette received his Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from Virginia Tech in 1980. He then completed an in-depth course in tissue culture of plants under Dr. Murashige at the University of California in Riverside.

In 1981, he joined his parents in a family business, the André Viette Farm & Nursery, which grows over 3,000 varieties of herbaceous perennials for the sun and shade. He is now Director of Marketing and Sales of the nursery operation.

Mark lectures throughout the United States and contributes many articles to horticultural journals. He has taught ten different horticulture classes at Blue Ridge Community College, and has hosted several radio call-in programs for WSVA in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He is president of Viette Communications, which produces and distributes a national weekly radio call-in program, "In the Garden with Andre Viette". He is also the alternate host for "In the Garden with Andre Viette".

In June, 2010, Mark became the new garden host for WOR Radio, NY, succeeding the late Ralph Snodsmith. The popular Sunday morning gardening program, which has been renamed "Easy Gardening with Mark Viette", is also syndicated to nearly 150 affiliates across the country on the WOR Radio Network.

Mark has produced and hosted over 700 60-second video gardening segments which air on broadcast TV. Almost 400 of these video tips (Viette's Gardening Tips) can be viewed on YouTube. He has also produced a special HD video on "Easy Amaryllis" which was e-mailed to 3.3 million Home Depot Garden Club members.

Mark is host of the Gardening segment of "Down Home Virginia", which is a four minute garden feature airing on 34 cable stations in Virginia and is also available nationwide on RFD-TV Channel 9409 on the Dish Network. He also hosted "Garden Views" with the Viettes, an hour long gardening call-in show which aired monthly on Virginia public television, WVPT. In addition, Mark shares helpful tips and provides expert advice on gardening in the Shenandoah Valley during his segments of "Viette’s Gardening Tips" which air Monday-Friday in Harrisonburg and Charlottesville. Mark joins TV personalities on CBS and ABC on a regular basis.

He has completed five plant finding trips to Europe and South America where he searched for new and exotic perennials to be introduced to American gardens.
